Obout.Ajax.UI Controls - Captcha - WebGarden/WebFarm

The CaptchaImage control stores its image and secret code in the session state. By default the session states are stored in the worker process of the application pool.

Web.config:

<configuration>

  <system.web>
      …
     <sessionState mode="InProc" />
      …
   </system.web>

</configuration>

In this case and if your application is configured to run in any of the environments, listed below, there will be a problem accessing the image and secret code:
  • Web Garden - The application runs on a single server and multiple worker processes are used for an application pool.
  • Web Farm - The application runs on more than one web server.
As a result you will see the following image instead of the Captcha image:

So you should configure your server environment to use any from the out of process Session States: StateServer, SQLServer or Custom(here you must take care yourself that the session state data were available).
See for details this page.

"The tree control is fantastic! Keep up the great coding and service!!"
